My first Blog Post

Well here it is.  My first blog.  I am going to talk about cars and trucks and just about anything automotive goes.  I have been a car nut since before I can remember. The first car I remember riding in was a 1962 Mercury Comet station wagon.  It was a stripper.  White with a red vinyl interior.  We lived in Texas at the time and with no air conditioning it was a sticky proposition to sit down so most of the time you would find my sisters and I standing up behind the front seat.  The fight was always over who got to stand on the hump where the drive shaft went through.  There was no front wheel drive in those days.  Also, these were no seat belts or air bags or power steering or brakes or, like I said, air conditioning.  Gas was $0.189 cents a gallon and it took all of a couple of dollars to fill up the tank. Since custom wheels are my latest automotive obsession I'll mention that the car had four of them, black painted steel with chrome hubcaps.  It was a stripper after all.  It was the kind of car into which you could throw the catfish still jumping and on the stringer after a day of fishing because all you had to do was hose it out later.  Carpet?
